Sam is one of our most fortunate boys who got to meet Shelly and Ty on his birthday. They thought it would be a great idea to have Sam, Uncle Martin, Joel and Swaliki stay with them. She called The Redeemed Church House of Praise where we were on Sunday 20th February. They were gracious enough to allow her to host since her family sponsors him. A local news agent picked interest in the story and requested to write an article for the Western Wheels in Okotoks. Shelly invited the bus driver and I for the day off at her place. We had an incredible evening and as the news lady asked questions, Shelly paused every now and then and said these are tears of joy. We had no idea that we would get to meet him one day and when we got his letter telling us he was coming to our area it was exciting for us she added. Hosting him is an experience we will never forget. Jarret her husband said to Sam: “If I met you ten years from now and you smiled, I would still recognize you” Ty their son said:”I picked him because he was closer to my age” Shelly concluded that she encourages everyone to sponsor a child at Watoto. Sam hugged them and handed Shelly a “thank you” card and a shoulder bag. They both cried as they said bye to each other.
