Happy Mothers’ Day From Everyone At Watoto

In celebration of Mothers’ Day this weekend, the children at Watoto are super excited to share their gratitude with all the women who have impacted their lives. A special Mothers’ Day video and photos all displaying the children’s love and appreciation to the women in their lives are now available for you to view.

Apart from his mother at Watoto’s Bbira Children’s Village, Brian Otim is happy about his sponsor, Jeannie Spearin, 51 from Wreka, California (USA) whom he met for the first time in March. “As I was walking to school, an administrator told me that my sponsor was coming to visit me and I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited and immediately rushed home to tell my mother about the good news and to prepare for our visitor. I was a little nervous, but I also couldn’t wait to meet her,” he narrates.

When they finally met, the two hugged and Jeannie handed Brian a gift. He was so happy and thanked Jeannie with another big hug. They laughed, cried and reminisced during their afternoon meeting. They both expressed that the encounter has had a lasting impact on their lives.

“Sponsors are like parents to the children at Watoto. It’s important that they maintain a mutual relationship with consistent contact. Some very fortunate sponsors have the chance to meet their children when they travel to Africa and others while the children are on tour in their country,” comments Cynthia Asiimwe, one of the caregivers on the Watoto Children’s Choir.

To all the mothers, mother figures, supporters and sponsors of children at Watoto, we love you and appreciate you very much. Happy Mothers’ Day!
