The world famous Watoto Children’s Choir brought life, love and music to Ballito on May 13 during a concert hosted by Destiny Life Church.
After the lovely opening act by the Umhlali Preparatory School choir the Watoto Children’s Choir graced the stage, stealing the hearts of many audience members. Many tears were shed while the children sang and danced and told their stories. Choir members are either orphans, were sex slaves or were child soldiers.
Ten-year-old Ronald told his story of how he lost both his parents and along with his siblings had to fetch water and wood for neighbours in exchange for food.
“The Watoto social workers came and took us away. Because of Watoto I now have my own bed, I have a mother who loves me and I know I’m not forgotten,” said Ronald.
