Watoto children and mothers were excited to receive a delegation of Kampala’s high profile dignitaries and business women who visited Baby Watoto Kampala and Suubi Children’s Village on Monday 27th June 2011.
Among the guests were Woman Member of Parliament for Kampala, Hon Nabilla Sempala; Office of the President’s private Secretary Sarah Muwonge Nkonge; a section of local businesswomen; and the media.
“The purpose of our visit is to assess the situation at Watoto and see the interventions that we can make to help organisations like Watoto who are making a big impact in our country,” said Sarah Muwonge.
The guests were taken on a mesmerising tour of Watoto projects on the ground; seeing the practical developments at the production and fabrication unit, Watoto schools, medical clinic and the goat farm. They also cuddled and played with the babies at Baby Watoto. The afternoon was concluded with a sumptuous lunch in the homes with children and mothers.
“We are blown away by what we have seen today at Watoto and I’m committing myself to mobilise every support to see that Watoto is able to rescue more children,” said Hon. Nabilla Sempala.
During departure time, Susan Mirembe, a local businesswoman and the head of the delegation concluded, “We’ve committed ourselves to provide training and work placement opportunities for Watoto graduates at our private companies and to mobliise other men and women in our circles to rally behind the work of Watoto.”
